“I think the retreat helped with team building and brought us closer together as a working team… I witnessed a boost in moral for months after the retreat… ultimately helping us take better care of our patients." -Jennifer Nickol, DO, PGY2

2018 GME Resident Retreat and Graduation was regarded as a tremendous success by students, residents, fellows, faculty, and general attendees.

  • Philanthropy sessions including creating care packages for underserved patients at Dr. Sweat’s free clinic
  • “Innovation cafes” led by Bill Terry to generate ideas for how to generate breakthrough ideas in healthcare delivery
  • Team building activities through escape rooms and other engaging platforms
  • Larger graduation ceremony with room to include more friends and family than in previous years
  • Dinners and events to foster camaraderie among experienced trainees and those who are new to our community

It takes a village to support Graduate Medical Education

Our GME department has a tremendous impact on the health of our community and brings millions of dollars in economic impact each year. We need the help of individuals, businesses, and nonprofits in the area to help grow and develop these programs to sustain their success for years to come.

A Bigger, Better Event This Year!

  • Increase participation to include 6 Cardiology Fellows and 6 Emergency Medicine Residents in addition to the 27 Internal Medicine Residents — 39 total trainee participants!
  • At least twice the number of care packages created for Dr. Thomas Sweat’s Living Healthy free medical clinic
  • Alumni and Friends reception following GME Graduation Ceremony
  • Saturday evening retreat dinner to include significant others this year
